POS rental for catering

A POS you can set up where there is nothing

If your kitchen moves somewhere new every weekend, you don't need a POS installed: you need one you can rent. Orders to the kitchen, cash and card payments, printed receipts and invoices — at a country estate, a warehouse or an empty field with no internet line.

Why an ordinary POS won't do

The kit isn't the problem. The problem is that the venue keeps changing.

A mobile catering business sets up and packs down every week in a different place, with a different crew and a different invoice. These are the three things that break any POS designed for a fixed venue.

The venue has no WiFi

Or it does, and it's the couple's own network, jammed by 150 guests. Relying on the venue's connection means tossing a coin on your service at every event.

The printers need setting up again

Every new network means re-pairing printers and explaining to everyone which WiFi to join. Half an hour lost before you even start.

Every client bills differently

Sometimes you charge guests one by one, sometimes you invoice the whole thing to the company that hired you. And sometimes both at the same event.

The piece that solves it

The network travels in the box, not at the venue

The kit can include a 4G router with its own SIM and battery. It broadcasts a WiFi network that is always the same one, whatever the place you're working at happens to be called: the screen and the printers are set up once, at your warehouse, and never touched again.

Waiting staff log in from their own phone using the browser — nothing to install, no app to update before every wedding. And if the router loses coverage one day, their phones keep taking orders on their own data: only printing pauses.

The one thing to check before accepting an event: that there is 4G coverage on the grounds. If the place sits in a valley with no signal, tell us and we'll look at the alternative.

From the van to the first order

Plug in and switch on

Router, screen and printers. They find each other because the network is the usual one. Nothing to pair.

Pick the menu for the event

You keep as many saved menus as you have types of service: wedding menu, open bar, corporate cocktail. Switching takes one tap.

The staff log in

Each with their own user, from their own phone. When the event ends you disable whoever isn't coming back and their access is gone.

What you actually use on a catering job

Without the restaurant modules that are pointless here

We leave on what you need to work on the move and hide the rest, so whoever is behind the bar doesn't have to learn a whole program.

Orders from a phone straight to the kitchen and the bar
Tables and zones laid out to match the event's floor plan
Cash and card payments, with change worked out for you
Receipt printed on the spot and simplified invoice
Full invoice with the details of the company hiring you
Cash-up split between cash and card

You pay for the months you work

The catering season doesn't last twelve months, so the rental doesn't have to either. No minimum term: give fifteen days' notice and stop.

Common questions

What caterers ask us

What if the event venue has no coverage?

That's the one scenario where the kit with a router doesn't work, which is why it's worth checking coverage on the grounds before signing the event. If you regularly work where there is no signal, say so in the form: there is an alternative using a local network, but it's set up differently and we need to talk it through.

Do the staff need a company phone?

No. They log in with the browser on their own phone, with nothing to install. Each has their own user, so you can see who took each order, and when someone stops working with you their access is disabled and they can no longer get in.

Can I invoice the company that hires me?

Yes. You can charge guests individually with receipts, invoice the total to the client organising the event, or both at the same event. If a receipt was already issued and an invoice is needed afterwards, the system issues the corresponding replacement document.

How long does it take to get a new event ready?

Setting up the kit takes minutes, because its network is always the same. What takes time is the first menu: once that's loaded, duplicating it for a new one is a quick job.

Is there a minimum term?

No. It's month-to-month rental with fifteen days' notice. If your season is five months, you pay five months and hand the kit back.
